Bridgeport Islanders News Release

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the New York Islanders, signed goaltender Michael Mole to a two-year contract and have assigned the 23-year old goaltender to Pensacola of the East Coast Hockey League.

"He opened everybody's eyes in camp," said Sound Tigers Head Coach Dan Marshall, adding that Mole brings athleticism, a good personality and bright future to the organization.

In two preseason games with the Sound Tigers Mole went 1-1 with a victory against Providence and a loss to Hartford. Mole stopped 27 of 30 shots in a 5-3 win against Providence and kicked aside 41 of 46 shots, including 21 in the first period alone, in a 5-3 defeat to Hartford.

Mole, 6-foot-0, 183 pounds, is an Orleans, ON native. He started last season with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL and completed the campaign with the San Diego Gulls, also of the ECHL. Mole finished the season strong with a 4-3-2 record and 2.62 goals against average in nine games with the Gulls.

The Sound Tigers play their first regular season home game Friday, Oct. 20 against the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, including group discount opportunities, visit soundtigers.com or call 334-4625.
