Defenseman Malec returned to Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Ottawa Senators returned defenseman Tomas Malec to Binghamton on Friday after he was recalled on an emergency basis for last night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Malec replaced defenseman Tom Preissing, who suffered a lower body injury during Ottawa's season opener Wednesday night in Toronto.

Malec played in 79 games for Binghamton last season, collecting one goal, 28 assists and 118 penalty minutes. Malec cleared waivers at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and was assigned to Binghamton after attending training camp in Ottawa.

Malec has two assists and 47 penalty minutes in 45 career NHL games.

Binghamton will begin the regular season on Saturday, October 7, 2006 against Syracuse at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Ticket packages and individual tickets can be purchased at the Sens' front office on the third floor of the Arena. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 722-SENS.
