
Canucks Assign Flaherty to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have assigned goaltender Wade Flaherty to the Moose.
Flaherty, 38, spent his entire 17th pro season last year with the Moose, appearing in 49 games - the most in a season for Flaherty since 1993-94 when he played in 60 games for the Kansas City Blades of the IHL. The Terrace, B.C. native compiled a record of 26-14-4 with a goals against average of 2.40 and a save percentage of .919. He set Moose franchise records for wins in a season with 26 as well as shutouts with six. In the playoffs, Flaherty was 5-5 in 11 appearances with a goals against average of 2.06. At the end of the season, he was named the team's most valuable player.
In two seasons with the Moose, Flaherty has appeared in 81 games with a record of 45-26-7. He is currently the franchise leader among Moose goalies for career goals against average at 2.40. He is also the franchise leader in career save percentage with a .918 mark and holds the franchise record for all-time Moose shutouts with 10. Flaherty is the franchise leader in almost every playoff category, including appearances (23); wins (15); losses (9); overtime wins (4); and saves (576). He has a Moose career playoff goals average of 2.24 and a Moose career playoff save percentage of .917.
In 17 pro seasons, Flaherty has appeared in 220 American Hockey League games with Manitoba, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Utah, Lowell, and Kentucky. He has a record of 108-73-23 with an AHL career goals against average of 2.49 and a career AHL save percentage of .919. In 120 career NHL appearances with San Jose, the Islanders, Florida, Tampa Bay, and Nashville, he has a record of 27-56-9 with a career NHL goals against average of 3.51 and a career NHL save percentage of .889.
Flaherty was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres with their 10th choice, 181st overall, in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.
