
Sound Tigers Sign Boucher To PTO

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have signed goaltender Nick Boucher to a professional tryout contract. Boucher will dress as the backup to Frederic Cloutier for tonight's 7:05 p.m. road game versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Boucher, 25, joins the Sound Tigers after going 5-12-4 with a 3.60 goals against average, .901 save percentage, one shutout, one assist and ten penalty minutes in 22 games for the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals this season. The 5'11'' 175-pounder from Cobble Hill, British Columbia appeared in 50 games for the ECHL's Pee Dee Pride last season and split the previous year between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers. Boucher, the ninth pick of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins in 2000 entry draft, spent the previous four seasons (1999-2003) at Dartmouth College of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference where he was 50-40-11 in a school-record 105 appearances with a school-record 50 wins and a then-record .907 save percentage.
Following tonight's game, the Sound Tigers will visit the Providence Bruins this Friday at 7:05 p.m. before returning to Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard to host the Philadelphia Phantoms this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. on Wade Dubielewicz Bobblehead giveaway night and the Syracuse Crunch this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. on Islanders 25th Anniversary puck giveaway night.
