Knights' Blueline Gets A Boost

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that they have received defenseman Richie Regehr on loan from the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate. In a separate move, the Knights have signed defenseman Doug Andress to a professional try-out. Both players are expected to be in the lineup when the Knights face the Cleveland Barons tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Cleveland.

Regehr is coming off his second recall to the Flames. In seven games, he had one assist and two penalty minutes. He has now played in ten NHL games this season, registering two assists and four penalty minutes. In 32 games with the Knights this season, Regehr has earned 19 points (3 goals, 16 assists) with two power play goals, one short-handed goal and 36 penalty minutes. Richie, the younger brother of Flames' defenseman Robyn Regehr, made his NHL debut with the Flames on December 29, 2005, earning an assist in Calgary's 4-2 win over Minnesota. In 96 AHL career games, the native of Bundung, Indonesia has accumulated 44 points (12 goals, 32 assists) with 96 penalty minutes with Omaha and Lowell.

Andress is in his second pro season. He has two goals and 18 assists for 20 points and 25 penalty minutes in 37 games for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. Last year, he split time between South Carolina and Toledo in the ECHL, racking five goals and 19 points in 69 games. Prior to turning pro, the native of Iroquois Falls, Ontario played four years at The Ohio State University. In 161 games, he had 18 goals and 71 assists for 89 points and 92 penalty minutes.

Following tonight's game in Cleveland, the Knights return home to host the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m. They'll travel to Iowa to play the Stars on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. They finish the week at home on Sunday when they welcome the Peoria Rivermen for a 5:00 p.m. face-off. All four games can be heard live on 1420 AM KOTK and on the web at omahaaksarbenknights.com. The games can also be watched on-line by clicking on the B2 Networks link on the web site.

Tickets for all home games are available at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The box office is open through the opening face-off on game nights.
