
Kings Send Petiot and Ryan To Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned center Matt Ryan and defenseman Richard Petiot to the Monarchs, Kings President of Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. In addition, the Monarchs have released defenseman Chris Barr from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Ryan, 22, has played in 12 games with the Kings this season, his first with the club, and has one point (an assist) and two penalty minutes. In 32 games with the Monarchs this season, the 5-foot-11, 182-pound native of Sharon, Ontario, has 11 points (4-7=11), 44 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of plus-four. Signed by the Kings as a free agent on August 2, 2004, Ryan was recalled by the Kings on December 31 and made his Kings/NHL debut that night at Dallas.
Petiot, 23, has played in two games with the Kings this season, his first with the club, and has zero points and two penalty minutes. With Manchester this season, Petiot has eight points (3-5=8), 28 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating in 33 games. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Daysland, Alberta, was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth-round (116th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He made his Kings/NHL debut on January 17 versus Tampa Bay.
Barr, 23, has appeared in five games with the Monarchs this season, collecting seven penalty minutes. Besides his two brief stints in Manchester this season, Barr has played in 31 games with the ECHL's Reading Royals, registering six points (1-5=6) and 44 penalty minutes. The last two seasons, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, played for the University of Saskatchewan (2003-05). In 52 games with the Huskies, Barr collected 13 points (1-12=13) and 128 penalty minutes. Barr also participated in the Monarchs 2005-06 training camp.
The Monarchs will host the Toronto Marlies for the first time in franchise history on Friday, January 27. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
