
Solar Bears Drop 5-1 Decision to Railers

WORCESTER, Mass. - Matthew Spencer scored the lone goal for Orlando as the Solar Bears (7-5-2-0) dropped a 5-1 decision to the Worcester Railers (6-8-1-0) on Saturday night at the DCU Center.

An early penalty against the Solar Bears led to the Railers opening the scoring with a power-play goal from Mike Cornell, whose shot from the right point beat Corbin Boes at the 1:28 mark.
Orlando tied the score at 6:59 after Spencer joined Vincent Dunn and Mathieu Foget for an odd-man rush and beat Evan Buitenhuis at 6:59 for his first of the season.
Nick Bligh pulled Worcester ahead 2-1 at 16:27 of the first when Matthew Gaudreau knocked the puck into the high slot and Bligh snapped a shot past the glove of Boes.
Bligh scored again in the third period off a behind-the-net pass from Gaudreau at 2:48, and Ivan Kosorenkov scored with the man advantage at 4:33 to make it 4-1 in favor of Worcester, prompting Corbin Boes to be replaced by Hayden Stewart, who made his Solar Bears debut.
Gaudreau later capped the scoring at 15:41 of the third period for the Railers.
Boes took the loss with 16 saves on 20 shots against in 24:33 of action, while Stewart made 11 stops on 12 shots against in 35:09 of relief; Buitenhuis earned the victory for Worcester with 33 saves on 34 shots against.

Shaw led Orlando with a season-high 10 shots on goal.
