Growlers Win 8 Straight Games

With a 5-2 decision over the Reading Royals Saturday night the Newfoundland Growlers have won 8 straight games.

Just 1:25 into the first period Hudson Elynuik scored his first pro goal to give the Growlers a 1-0 lead. The Royals would respond late in the period from the stick of Steven Swavely to even the score after the first 20 minutes of play.

Growlers goalie, Mario Culina would face 19 shots in the first period, en route to a 40 save performance.

The Growlers would pump 2 goals past Royals netminder Austin Lotz in the second period, the first, from J.J Piccinich and the second from Todd Skirving.

Zach O'Brien would score 4:43 into the third period, his fourth goal this weekend versus the Reading Royals to give the Growlers a 4-1 lead. Nick Luukko would respond for the Royals in the third, but Sam Babintsev would add a late game empty-net goal to secure the 5-2 victory.
