
Snappers win third straight

Notes: The Snappers slugged out 14 hits and scored nine runs on their way to a 9-4 victory over the Silver Hawks. Beloit fell behind 1-0 in the first inning when Justin Upton hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning. The Snappers offense plated three runs in the bottom of the first, taking a 3-1 lead. Upton tied the game with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth. Danny Berg tripled to lead off the fifth inning. Berg scored on a Josh Land ground out, giving Beloit a 4-3 lead. The Snappers scored another run in the bottom sixth when Edward Ovalle blasted a solo home run to center. South Bend cut the lead to 5-4 with a run in the seventh. Beloit added two runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth, pushing their lead to 9-4. Frank Mata worked a scoreless ninth to seal the victory for the Snappers. Alexander Smit earned his second win of the season.
Upcoming Schedule: The Snappers have a day off Wednesday, June 14 before traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Kernels and Snappers play a four game series June 15-18 to close out the first half.
