Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
Battle Creek, MI-The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays announce that outfielder David Cardona has been promoted to the Visalia Oaks in the Class A advanced California League. Cardona was drafted in the eighth round in the 2001 draft by the Dodgers. He was released by the Dodgers in 2004 and signed with Tampa Bay. He had limited playing time in Southwest Michigan this season because of sprained toe which left him on the disabled list. In 11 games played this season, Cardona batted .324 with one home run and two RBI.
Taking Cardona's place on the roster is third baseman Matt Devins. Devins started the season with Southwest Michigan but has been on the Hudson Valley Renegades roster since May 30th. Devins played 36 games for the Baby Rays, batting .163 with seven RBI and 20 walks.
