Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays continued their domination of the Swing of the Quad Cities by winning 6-2 on Red Hot Chicago Dime Dog Night. The Rays took three of four in the series and have only dropped one game in the last ten meetings at C.O. Brown between the clubs.
J.T. Hall had the best hitting night of the year so far for the Devil Rays. Hall started things off by doubling in the bottom of the first inning. He followed that up home run in the bottom of the third over the right field wall with two on and two out. He finished the night a triple shy of the cycle and went 3-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. J.T.'s homer was his second in as many nights; he now has five on the season.
All-Star first baseman Rhyne Hughes was responsible for the other two runs batted in. Hughes went 2-4 and both hits were run scoring singles. Garrett Groce went 1-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Newcomer, Jackson Brennan, crossed home plate twice in the win.
Greg Reinhard (2-5) has come on as of late and won his second start in a row after failing to get a win in his first eleven outings. Reinhard pitched a season best seven innings and stuck out four batters while giving up eight hits and two earned runs. Tonight was Reinhard's first game since his Southwest Michigan debut in which he didn't walk a batter.
Aaron Walker tossed the final two frames for the Rays and fanned one, walked one, and surrendered a pair of hits.
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays have the day off Wednesday before traveling to Dayton for a four game series. After that the Rays will send five players to the All-Star game in Davenport, Iowa. Representing Southwest Michigan will be Wade Davis, Jake McGee, Mike Wlodarczyk, Greg Dupas, and Rhyne Hughes.
The Devil Rays return home on June 29th to square off against the Fort Wayne Wizards in a special Country & Western Thirsty Thursday. After the game there will be live music in the TDS Metrocom Left Field Bar by the band "Mike McClain and Friends".-KV
