Snappers Silence Bandits Bats en Route to Series Win
July 29, 2019 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT, WI - On a beautiful night for baseball, the Snappers bats were scorching hot to the tune of 11 runs in their victory on Monday night. The win clinched the series victory for the Snappers to finish out the home schedule against the River Bandits this season.
Beloit would get the scoring started with an early run right out of the gates in the first inning.
However, the bats would explode in the third inning, as Beloit would hang the crooked number of 6 on the scoreboard taking all the momentum and putting this game out of reach.
In the sixth, Beloit would string together 5 singles, four with two outs to get the bats going in the inning. Max Schuemann, Nick Osborne, John Jones, Devin Foyle, and Anthony Churlin all singled in the inning to plate 4 of the Snappers 6 runs.
Beloit though was not done yet, as Skyler Weber would crush a double to centerfield plating two more runs to complete the monstrous inning for Beloit and pushing them out to a 7-0 lead.
Beloit would then tack on two more in the fifth and two in the sixth to extend the Snappers run total to a whopping 11 runs. After a two out single, Skyler Weber would launch another ball, this time over the right field wall for a two-run homer.
In the sixth, Beloit would open up the inning with three straight singles and a run. Then, John Jones would groundout, but pick up an RBI to plate Pena capping the Snappers fun and impressive night at the plate with the Snappers going on to win 11-3.
11 runs would be plenty for Snappers pitching too, as Beloit would get another excellent start from starter Reid Birlingmair. Birlingmair pitched six scoreless innings with three strikeouts and five hits against. He will also be credited with a win after his second straight quality start of throwing six or more innings with a run or less given up.
Beloit will be back in action opening up a four-game series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels tomorrow at 6:30 P.M. The series against the Kernels features a great list of promotions with Dollar Dog Tuesday, YMCA Day on Wednesday, Bark in the Park Thursday, and Scout Night/Oven Mitt giveaway on Friday night.
The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. For more ticket information, contact the Snappers office at (608) 362- 2272 or visit our website, www.snappersbaseball.com.
