Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Eleven runs off 14 hits proved to be more than the Snappers could handle Wednesday night, as they dropped game four of a four-game series to the Quad Cities River Bandits, 11-5. Beloit's Michael Tarsi picked up the loss, going five innings and allowing six runs (three earned) off seven hits.

Beloit got going first in the bottom of the opening frame on a passed ball by Quad Cities' catcher Paul Vazquez. Vazquez's blunder allowed Ben Revere, who earlier singled, to score from third base. Revere's run put the Snaps ahead 1-0.

Quad Cities then battled back to score four runs over the next two innings to take a 4-1 lead.

Steve Singleton delivered an RBI-ground out to first in the bottom of the third inning to draw Beloit to within two runs, 4-2. Singleton's single allowed Ben Revere to score from third.

The two teams would then exchange two-run innings in the fourth and sixth to make it an 8-6 game after six innings.

Quad Cities would then proceed to pull away from the Snappers with three runs in the top of the eighth inning, all off Beloit reliever Charles Nolte.

That would be too much for the Snaps to handle as they went on to lose by a final of 11-6.

Chris Cates went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a walk for Beloit, who fell to 31-28 on the year.
