Great Lakes Loons News Release

Pedro Baez hit his first home run of the season and Kenley Jansen blasted his sixth, but it wasn't enough as the Fort Wayne Wizards rallied to defeat the Great Lakes Loons 4-3 Wednesday night at Dow Diamond. The game was played in front of a crowd of 3,506.

The Wizards have now won nine of 12 against the Loons this season and have won 17 of their last 24.

The Loons took a 3-2 lead on Jansen's homer in the fifth to lead off the inning. Then in the seventh inning, left-hander Wilfredo Diaz made his Loons debut on the mound. He surrendered a walk to catcher Luis Martinez, then a two-run homer to Robert Perry, which made the score 4-3. The homer was Perry's first of the year.

Justin Miller did not factor in the decision. He started and did not allow an earned run in six innings. Diaz (0-1) lost his debut, surrendering two runs in three innings. Aaron Breit (1-0) won his 2008 debut with the Wizards. Jackson Quezada hurled a 1-2-3 ninth inning to notch his 12th save of the year. Quezada moves into a tie with Loons' closer Miguel Ramirez for the league lead in saves.

The Loons begin a five-game, four-day series with the West Michigan Whitecaps, an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, beginning Thursday at 7:05pm. Thursday's game features an appearance from traveling mascot entertainer Birdzerk!. Tickets are available through Loons.com or by phone at 989-837-BALL.

The Great Lakes Loons are the second-year Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
