
Bees sting Clinton--take three of four from Clinton

Burlington, IA (June 4, 2008) - The Burlington Bees wrapped up arguably their most impressive series of the season with a 5-1 victory over Clinton Wednesday night at Community Field. Clint Robinson had two hits and two RBI while Danny Duffy picked up his first win of the season. With the win, the Bees took three of four from the team with the best record in the league.
The Bees got on the scoreboard first on Wednesday. Jason Taylor led the bottom of the second off with a triple and then scored on a Clint Robinson RBI single. The score would remain 1-0 all the way until the sixth inning.
In the sixth, Ryan Eigsti led the inning off with a solo homerun. After one out was recorded David Lough hit a triple and then scored on a Mike Moustakas single.
The LumberKings got a run back in the seventh but the Bees picked up two insurance runs in the eighth inning. Lough led the inning off with a single, stole second and then scored on another Robinson single. With one out, Taylor walked, moved to third on Lough's single and then scored on a wild pitch to give the Bees the 5-1 victory.
Duffy picked up his first win of the season. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing no runs on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks. Juan Abreu pitched 3.1 innings allowing an unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts and one walk to pick up his first save of the season.
The Bees had eight hit in the contest. Robinson was the only one with more than one as he went 2-4 with two RBI. Both Lough and Taylor scored two runs in the contest.
The Bees open a series at Cedar Rapids on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Eduardo Paulino is the scheduled starter for the Bees. The Bees return home to Community Field for their final home series before the All-Star break on June 9th as they will begin a four-game series against Wisconsin.
