January 17, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced this afternoon that they have signed left wing Aaron Slattengren to a Professional Tryout Agreement. The forward could make his Providence debut Friday night when the club hosts the Lowell Devils at 7:05 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. With the move, the P-Bruins now have 23 players on their roster, including 12 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

Slattengren, 26, began this season with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL, where he leads the league in goals and ranks fifth in points at the time of his recall. On the year, the third-year pro has 28 goals and 16 assists for 44 points, along with 30 penalty minutes in 33 ECHL games. In addition, Slattengren has appeared in five contests with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, going scoreless over a nearly two-week stint that ended January 7. The Duluth, Minnesota, native is having a career season, having already twice won the ECHL's In Glas Co Player of the Week award as well as being named to the American Conference squad for the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game taking place later this month in Stockton, California. Slattengren has registered nine multiple-point outings for Augusta, none more impressive than a record-setting four-goal, three-assist contest against the Pensacola Ice Pilots on November 27, 2007. His seven points set a Lynx team record while his plus-eight rating in the 9-1 win tied the ECHL's single-game record. Slattengren has two additional hat tricks on the year. A four-year standout for the Colorado College Tigers from 2002-06, the undrafted winger has seen time with six different clubs since turning pro, including the AHL's Portland Pirates, Iowa Stars and Manitoba, as well as the Idaho Steelheads, Phoenix Roadrunners and Augusta of the ECHL. Slattengren has 49 goals, 42 assists and 91 points in 102 career games, 11 at the AHL level.

Providence, the top team in the AHL with a record of 30-7-2-1 and 63 points, returns to action Friday night, hosting Lowell at The Dunk for Hat Night, presented by Rhode Island Lottery, WPRI 12 and Fox Providence. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins take on the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center Saturday at 7:05 p.m. before another home contest on Sunday against the Hartford Wolf Pack. The afternoon affair marks T.J. Trevelyan Poster Night at 4:05 p.m. Information on P-Bruins season ticket packages and individual tickets for the 2007-08 regular season can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging on to the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
