Calgary Flames Sign Goaltender Curtis Joseph

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of goaltender Curtis Joseph to a one year deal. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not released.

A native of Keswick, ON, and a veteran of 913 NHL games, Joseph is entering his 18th NHL season. He currently resides in 5th position on the all-time goaltender wins list with 446, only one behind Hockey Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk. Joseph ranks 4th among active shutout leaders with 51.

Originally signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues in 1989, Joseph has previously played for five NHL teams (St. Louis, Edmonton, Toronto, Detroit, and Phoenix). Most recently, Joseph was a member of Canada's 2008 Spengler Cup championship team in Davos, Switzerland, capturing MVP honors in two games. He finished the tournament with a 1.95 GAA and a perfect 3-0 record.

The Calgary Flames will face the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night at the Pengrowth Saddledome, game time is 7:00pm (MT) and can be seen live on TSN or listen to on the FAN 960.
