Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that they have a lot of excitement in store for this weekends match ups with Hershey and Bridgeport at the Times Union Center.

Friday, January 18th is Trustco Bank Night as the River Rats square off with the Hershey Bears at 7:00 pm. Members from Trustco Bank will drop the puck for a ceremonial face off to start the game that should momentarily separate the two teams currently tied for third place in the East Division. Trustco Bank's mascot "Trusty" will be on hand to help "Rowdy" get all of the fans into a frenzy and participate in the intermission activities. Friday is also another Killington Ski Night as the River Rats will be giving away some free ski passes along with vouchers good for discounts on lift tickets.

Saturday, January 19th MVP Health Care will present Show Stopper Saturday as the River Rats battle the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 pm. MVP Health Care will be providing River Rats fans with Thunderstix and T-shirts during the game. The River Rats will also be giving away 2007-08 Albany Team Photos to all fans, as well as collecting donations for the Guilderland Girl Scouts Sock Drive and hosting a post-game skate & autograph session with the players.

Danielle Martin, a Girl Scout from Guilderland, NY, is currently organizing a Sock Drive as part of her Gold Leadership Award Project. She, with help from the Guilderland Area Girl Scouts, is hoping to collect 1,000 socks from various local organizations, with the River Rats game Saturday against Bridgeport acting as the final leg of her collection process. They are collecting new Women's, Children's and Men's socks for donation to three local charities: Parson's Children's Center; the Marillac Family Shelter; and the Albany City Mission.

The River Rats ask all of their fans to bring a donation of new socks of any size and color to the game on Saturday. The socks can be dropped off at "Fan Relations" which is located near Section 129. Each fan's sock donation will earn them a raffle ticket to win one of several fabulous River Rats prizes including a family four-pack of tickets, boxes of Girl Scout cookies and a Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Championship hat signed by the River Rats players.

The final whistle from the referee will not mark the end of the excitement at the Times Union Center. The River Rats players will come back on the ice for a post-game skate and autograph session with all fans that wish to participate. The post-game skate with the players will last for approximately 45 minutes.
