Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Matt Greene has been assigned to the Falcons by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Edmonton Oilers, on a conditioning assignment. Springfield also announced they have recalled defenseman Brad Farynuk from their ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder.
Greene has missed the Oilers last 34 games (November 2nd to January 15th) after suffering a fractured left fibula and ligament damage in his left ankle on October 30th in a game versus the Detroit Red Wings at Rexall Place. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound blueliner had scored one assist with 11 penalty minutes in 13 games for the Oilers this season prior to the injury.

Greene has played in 118 career NHL games, and also has played in 26 career AHL contests, all with the Iowa Stars during the 2005-06 campaign. Greene was selected by the Oilers in the second round (44th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
This is Farynuk's fourth recall of the season to Springfield and the Enderby, British Columbia native has played in three games for the Falcons this season not registering a point. In 28 games with the Thunder this season, the Stockton captain has three goals and 12 assists for 15 points and was named to participate in the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game, which will be played in Stockton this season.
