Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers finally got in the win-column against Rancho Cucamonga this year, as they held on for a 7-1 victory over the Quakes on Sunday afternoon at San Manuel Stadium.

66ers' starter Alex Klonowski allowed just one run over six innings, and the high-powered Rancho offense was held to just five hits, as the Quakes lost to the Sixers for the first time in nine games this year and for the first time in the last 16 games, dating back to last season.

Dodgers' rehabbing left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu made his first of what is expected to be several minor league rehab starts on Sunday, working two scoreless innings. Ryu threw 22 pitches and allowed just one hit, striking out a pair before departing.

The game remained scoreless until the fourth, when a three-run homer from Michael Strentz against Quakes' reliever Felipe Gonzalez gave Inland Empire the lead for good at 3-0.

A Joey Curletta solo home run in the sixth, his third of the year, accounted for the only Rancho run of the day, as that made it 3-1. That would be the only blemish on the day for Klonowski (2-6), as he earned the win by allowing just one run on four hits over six frames.

Inland Empire tallied two more runs in the bottom of the seventh against Gonzalez (0-1), giving them a 5-1 lead.

Strentz knocked in another run in the eighth, then scored on a Zach Houchins single, as the 66ers made it a 7-1 game against reliever Alex Burgos.

The Quakes (25-12) slip into a first-place tie with High Desert, who won in Visalia for a third straight day on Sunday. The Quakes look for a series-win on Monday, as they'll send Yaisel Sierra (1-1) to the hill in the final game of the four-game series. The 66ers will counter with Justin Anderson (1-4), with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm on Monday afternoon.

Through his interpreter, Ryu confirmed during his post-game press conference that he's scheduled to start again on Friday, May 20th, as the Quakes host the San Jose Giants in the opening game of a four-game series.

On Friday night, 1,500 fans will take home a Corey Seager Bobblehead, thanks to Allstar KIA. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available at (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
