
Sioux Falls Extend Home Winning Streak to Five Games

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede 111-96 to extend their home winning streak to five games.
The shooting matched the weather outside as both teams started cold on the offense end. A Henry Walker lay-up with 5:58 left in the first quarter gave the Skyforce (10-9) a 12-10 lead over the Stampede (4-17). During the first quarter the two teams combined to shoot 38% (17-45) from the field and the Skyforce led 24-21 heading into the second quarter. Sioux Falls started the second quarter on a 16-7 run and a three-point play from Shawn Jones gave the Skyforce a 40-28 lead with 7:04 left in the first half. Fuquan Edwin led all scorers with 13 points in the first half as the Skyforce took a 54-42 lead into halftime.
A three-point shot by Idaho's Shane Gibson brought the Stampede within eight at the 8:17 mark of the third quarter. On the ensuing possession, a Larry Drew II jump-shot brought the Skyforce lead to 10 and Sioux Falls would lead by double-digits the rest of the game. Eight third quarter points from Shawn Jones helped the Skyforce take an 87-69 lead into the fourth quarter. The Skyforce stayed in control of the game throughout the fourth quarter and ended the night with a 111-96 victory, their fifth straight home win.
Shawn Jones recorded game highs of 23 points and 11 rebounds as he notched his fourth double-double of the season. Fuquan Edwin added 22 points for the Skyforce, half of which came from the charity stripe. Henry Walker finished with 16 points and Larry Drew II added 10 points and 13 assists, good for his eighth double-double of the season.
Joel Wright led the five Idaho players who scored in double figures with 21 points. Shane Gibson scored 20 points to go along with a game high five steals. Jack Cooley finished the night with nine points and 10 rebounds in his first game back for the Stampede.
Sioux Falls is back in action at the Sanford Pentagon tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. against the Los Angeles D-Fenders (6-15). Idaho will next travel to face the Iowa Energy (7-10) this Sunday, Jan. 11.
