Blue Surges Past Energy

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue overcame a 14-point deficit and defeated the Iowa Energy, 121-109, on Friday at the COX Convention Center. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Grant Jerrett scored 10 points in 25 minutes.

Six Oklahoma City players scored in double figures behind Semaj Christon's 31 points on 12-of-15 shooting. The rookie guard added five rebounds, six assists and zero turnovers in 41 minutes.

Fellow point guard Marquis Teague produced 20 points and six assists off the bench and Talib Zanna tallied 16 points and 11 boards for his 11th double-double of the season. Josh Huestis scored 11 points alongside eight rebounds and four blocked shots.

The Blue was outscored 31-23 in the opening quarter and trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half. Oklahoma City came out of halftime with a strong defensive showing, limiting Iowa to 4-of-17 shooting in the third quarter while outscoring the Energy 30-15 in the frame. A 10-0 run in the heart of the third helped give the Blue its first advantage of the half and Oklahoma City held that lead for the final 16 minutes of the game.

"When we defend and we get stops it gets us out on the break and gets us easier baskets," said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "I thought in the first half we were just a little bit late to everything and in the second half our sense of urgency was there and we had a great deal of purpose. Our guys executed what we talked about at halftime and I was proud of how they responded."

Oklahoma City (10-10) shot 48-of-86 (55.8 percent) from the field and outrebounded Iowa 48-32. The Blue outscored the Energy 72-28 in the paint.

Iowa (7-10) was led by Damien Wilkins with 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in 44 minutes.
