January 10, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Grand Rapids Drive News Release
Erie, PA - Jan. 10 - The Grand Rapids Drive (11-9) got back into the win column Saturday night, outlasting the Erie BayHawks (7-14) by a score of 96-93. This marked the Drive's first win in four contests, while the BayHawks dropped their sixth game in a row.
Grand Rapids lead for almost the entirety of the game, as there were only three lead changes, but never was able to shake the BayHawks completely. The defecit stood at just one entering the fourth quarter.
Seth Curry's free throws with 9.9 seconds to go cut the Drive's lead to one, but L.D. Williams hit both his free throws on the other end after an intentional foul to ice the game and finish off the BayHawks.
Lorenzo Brown, making his third start of the year, had a huge all-around game for Grand Rapids with 27 points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Adonis Thomas added 19 points and Willie Reed had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Drive did a decent job of bottling up Seth Curry, the D-League's leading scorer. Curry came in averaging 26.5 points per game and scored just 18, but was still an effective presence as he provided seven rebounds and five assists. Drew Crawford was Erie's leading scorer with 19 points and also lead the team in rebounds with eight.
Former Detroit Pistons draft pick Peyton Siva was unable to get much going against the affiliate of his former team due to foul trouble, scoring just five points.
This marks the 11th time this season where Grand Rapids was able to hold their opponents to under 100 points, after failing to do so in each of their four previous contests.
The Drive have a long break before their next game, which takes place on the road against the Iowa Energy on January 24. Erie travels to Fort Wayne to play the Mad Ants on January 13.
