BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield Jam (14-8) loss 119-105 Friday night against the Austin Spurs (14-6). Five Jam players scored in double-figures, led by Joe Jackson who had 21 points and a game-high 11 assists.

The Jam got off to a slow start to the game and trailed by 10 points midway through the first quarter. Despite the early struggles, Bakersfield finished the quarter strong as they surged to a 20-9 run and took a 24-23 lead after one. The Spurs outscored the Jam 26-20 in the second quarter and went into the break with a 49-44 advantage.

In the second half, Austin led all the way and had leads as big as 11 in the third and 16 in the fourth. The Jam fought hard and put together a strong run in the fourth, where they came within five points (97-91) at the 5:39 mark, but struggled late to get stops on the defensive end.

Casey Prather had 20 points and four steals, while Robert Vaden contributed 16 points (5/9 3FGs). Mac Koshwal posted a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Earl Barron tallied 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Spurs were paced by Jonathan Simmons (30 points, 5 rebounds) and JaMychal Green (28 points, 10 rebounds). Bryce Cotton added 23 points and seven assists.

The Bakersfield Jam will next travel to Santa Cruz, California for the NBA D-League Showcase. The Jam will enter the tournament as the #5 seed and will play a Showcase Cup game on Thursday, January 15 against the Texas Legends. Tip-off is set at 10:00 a.m. PT.
