
Sidick, Hammons Selected To Frontier League All-Star Team

Outfielder Chris Sidick and relief pitcher Kevin Hammons will represent the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, at the Frontier League All-Star game in Southern Illinois next week.
Sidick and Hammons were selected to play for the East Division All Stars through a vote by general managers, managers, coaches and members of the media. Sidick was voted in as a starter for the East team.
Both Sidick and Hammons have posted stellar performances in the first half of the season. Sidick is batting .333, fourth in the Frontier League, with a league-leading five triples. He is also among the league leaders in on-base percentage (.455, second in the league) and stolen bases (22, third in the league). He has collected 34 runs, 52 hits, seven doubles, five triples, four home runs, 16 RBI and 26 walks through the first 42 games of the season.
Hammons leads the Washington pitching staff with a 1.59 ERA and a .176 opponent batting average. As the Wild Things' set-up man, he is 2-2 with one save in 18 appearances. He has allowed five runs on 16 hits and 11 walks in 28.1 innings pitched. He leads the relievers and is second among the entire pitching staff with 35 strikeouts.
The 2010 Frontier League All-Star game, presented by Peoples National Bank, will take place at Rent One Park in Marion, Ill., at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. The All-Star Game is the culmination of three days of activities at Rent One Park. The action begins on July 12 with a concert featuring Craig Morgan and Rodney Atkins. July 13 features the All-Star luncheon banquet and the Home Run Derby along with a Celebrity Softball Game that evening. Among the softball participants are former St. Louis Cardinals and current Fox Sports Midwest commentators Jack Clark and Al Hrabosky, both of whom will also be speaking at the banquet. The Wild Things are on the road for games in Evansville and Florence this week and return to CONSOL Energy Park for a six-game homestand following the All-Star break.
