Kalamazoo Kings News Release

KALAMAZOO - Frontier League All Star teams were announced on Monday and Kings' outfielder Matt Maloney was named a starter on the East Division team for the July 14th game in Marion, IL.

Maloney leads the team in most offensive statistics, including batting average, slugging percentage, doubles, home runs, hits and is tied for the team lead in RBI. He leads the entire Frontier League with 22 extra base hits.

He also stands out in the division as he leads the East in home runs, is 3rd in slugging percentage and is fifth in RBI.

"Chosen as one of the few to represent the East Division and the Kalamazoo Kings is a very special thing," Maloney says.

Maloney also serves as the Kings' interim manager since Jamie Keefe was relieved of his duties and the team is 3-1 under his watch.

The Kings return home Monday July 19th with a three game series against in-state rival and the division leading Oakland County Cruisers.

The Kings are a part of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league.
