STAT OF THE DAY: The Shorebirds bullpen has tossed seven straight scoreless innings over the last two nights. Zach Davies went three scoreless on April 14 and Matt Taylor went four scoreless yesterday. The pen has a 4.05 ERA this season.

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds scored nine runs in the first inning and throttled the Greensboro Grasshoppers 19-2 on Sunday. Tonight, the Shorebirds play game one against the Hagerstown Suns (Nationals). It's the first of 23 scheduled meetings this season. The Shorebirds and Suns are tied for second place in the Northern Division, one game back of Greensboro.

19-RUNS: The 19 runs scored yesterday were the most the Shorebirds have scored since July 13, 2009 when they beat the Lexington Legends 19-0. The Shorebirds last scored more than 19 runs on July 5, 2007 in a 20-5 win over Hagerstown. In 2011, the Shorebirds' season high for runs scored was 12 (July 23 vs. Hickory).

TWO HOMERS FOR LINO: After going his first seven games without a home run, Gabriel Lino blasted two yesterday. He became the first Shorebirds player to hit two home runs in a single game since Tyler Kolodny on April 18, 2010 against Hagerstown. Five of Lino's ten hits have gone for extra bases.

SHINING STARR: Sammie Starr set a new career high with five RBIs yesterday. He connected on his first career grand slam to cap the nine-run first. In 70 career games prior to this season, Starr totaled 22 RBIs. He has eight RBIs in his first ten games this season.

MULTI-HIT ESPOSITO: Jason Esposito has recorded multiple hits in three straight games. He has four multi-hit games in his last six. During the Greensboro series (8-for-16), Esposito boosted his batting average from .167 to .300.

SECOND IN RUNS SCORED: After a 19-run outburst on Sunday, the Shorebirds now rank second in the league in runs scored with 66. The Asheville Tourists lead the SAL with 77 runs scored. The Shorebirds are tied for first in the league with 62 RBIs.

2ND IN ERA: The Shorebirds rank second in the league in staff ERA at 3.09. Only the Savannah Sand Gnats have a better ERA (1.96). The Shorebirds had a 2.12 staff ERA in the Greensboro series.
