POWER REPLAY: West Virginia rallyed to sweep the Greenville Drive with a 9-6 win Sunday afternoon. The Power held a 2-1 lead after Alen Hanson's third inning home run. The Drive, however, sent nine men to the plate in the fifth and scored five times. West Virginia answered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth, including a three-run homer by Greg Polanco to retake the lead at 7-6. The Power added two more runs in the sixth to close the scoring. Trent Stevenson earned the win and Emmanuel De Leon picked up his second save.
FOUR AND SEVEN: As West Virginia extended its first winning streak of the season with a fourth straight win yesterday, two players added to their season-best hitting streaks. Alen Hanson is batting .467 over a seven game hitting streak with 14 hits in 30 at bats and has scored nine times. Greg Polanco is hitting .370 over his seven game streak with a ten for 27 clip, four home runs, and 11 runs batted in.
HELLO AGAIN: The Power open a three game series with Asheville tonight. West Virginia trails 32-23 in the all-time series after having been swept last week at McCormick Field. The Tourists lead at Appalachian Power Park by five wins with an 18-13 mark since 2005. These clubs will meet 12 times total this season, all of which are before the 2012 All-Star break.
BACK-TO-BACK AGAIN: Greg Polanco hit home runs in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday and became the first player to accomplish that feat since... Greg Polanco. The Power outfielder hit home runs in back-to-back games on Wednesday at Asheville and in Thursday's home opener. No player has hit one out in three straight since Rogelio Noris in May of 2010.
SEVENTH INNING SCORING: Prior to Saturday night, West Virginia had not scored a single run during the seventh inning of any game this season. The Power plated two in the home half of the seventh in Saturday's win.
