
Tough Extra Inning Loss for Braves

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves fell to the Savannah Sand Gnats 6-5 in twelve innings Monday night before a crowd of 1,575 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The game started 49 minutes late due to rainy conditions.
Savannah struck first with two runs in the first inning on a bases loaded walk and an RBI single by Camden Maron for the 2-0 score. The Braves would score their first run in the third inning after a homerun by Kyle Kubitza (3), making it a 2-1 game. A one-out double by Nick DeSantiago and a single by Elmer Reyes tied the score at 2-2 in the fifth.
The Sand Gnats would regain the lead in the seventh on another bases loaded walk to make the score 3-2. Savannah would extend their lead to 4-2 on an eighth inning solo homerun by Travis Taijeron. In the top of the ninth, the Sand Gnats made it a 5-2 lead on an RBI double by Aderlin Rodriguez. Rome rallied to tie the game in the bottom half of the ninth thanks to Kyle Kubitza's three RBI triple knotting the score at 5-5. The game moved to the twelfth inning and Savannah's Dustin Lawley (2) broke the tie with a solo homerun to make the score 6-5. Rome would go quietly in the bottom of the inning and Savannah picked up the win. .
Tj Chism (0-1) recorded the win for Savannah, after coming in to relieve Jared West in the 11th inning. Rome's John Cornely (0-1) would get the loss. David Filak, the starter for the Braves had a strong performance, striking out 11 and surrendering only one earned run in five innings of work, Rome takes on the Savannah Sand Gnats Tuesday at 7PM.
