STAT OF THE DAY: The Shorebirds and Suns are the only two teams in the SAL that have three pitchers on their current roster with three or more wins. Tim Adleman, Jacob Pettit and Scott Copeland each have three wins this year.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds have won 14 of their last 16 games heading into game one against first place Hagerstown. Tonight marks the first of 19 meetings between the two teams this season. The Shorebirds have won four straight series, their longest streak since the 2007 season when they won five straight series between April 29 and June 13. The 'Birds plated nine unanswered runs last night to down the Tourists 10-5.
FIRST GRAND SLAM SINCE '08: Michael Ohlman connected on the first Shorebirds grand slam since 2008 last night in the sixth inning. The last Shorebirds grand slam was hit by Tyler Henson on August 18, 2008 against Savannah. Ohlman went 4-for-4 yesterday with five RBIs. The four hits and five RBIs are both career highs.
SCHUTZ SHREDDING THE LEAGUE: Kipp Schutz has seven multi-hit games in his last nine played. He takes a five-game hitting streak into game one against the Suns. Schutz has hit safely in 23 of 26 games played and has reached base in 24 of 26 games. He ranks fourth in the league in batting average (.377), ninth in slugging percentage (.575), second in hits (40), second in RBIs (25) and seventh in runs scored (23).
KELLY'S ON FIRE: Ty Kelly takes a six-game hit streak (11-25, .440) and a nine-game on-base streak into game one against the Suns. Kelly has recorded multiple hits in three straight games. He has struck out just once in his last 25 at-bats.
46 HITS: The Shorebirds totaled 46 hits over the four-game series against Asheville. They now have 290 hits in 30 games this year (9.67 per).
FOUR-INNING SAVE: Cameron Roth picked up his first save of the season yesterday in four scoreless innings. He fanned a season high five batters.OF Stev
