Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - In a Monday matinee series finale, the Sacramento River Cats (44-64) managed just one run on a Chris Shaw laser home run to right field. The Iowa Cubs (40-67) jumped on Daniel Camarena early in his return to the River Cats rotation as the River Cats fell 8-1.

Shaw put the River Cats on the board in the second inning with his 22nd home run of the season and the hardest home run Sacramento has hit at Raley Field this season - exit velocity of 113 MPH. Apart from Shaw's blast, the River Cats scattered just five singles on the afternoon.

River Cats starter Daniel Camarena had a tough first outing in his return to Triple-A, allowing six earned runs on nine hits with a walk and three strikeouts in just three innings pitched. Jose Valdez highlighted the pitching side, providing three innings of one-hit ball to cool off the Cubs in the middle innings.

Right-hander Tyler Beede faced just one batter in the ninth before leaving with an apparent injury. He was replaced by lefty Josh Osich who finished the game.

Sacramento has an off day on Tuesday and will fly to Tennessee to take on the top team in the PCL, the Memphis Redbirds for a three-game series. Right-hander Shaun Anderson (0-1, 6.55) toes the rubber the River Cats and the Redbirds will counter with right-hander Chris Ellis (3-2, 3.40). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. (PT).
