
Chasers Tame Grizzlies in 11, 5-4

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
FRESNO, CA - The Storm Chasers emerged victorious in a see-saw battle in Central California, as Omaha outlasted Fresno 5-4 on Sunday night at Chukchansi Park.
Fresno scored first in the bottom of the 2nd; A.J. Reed doubled, and Jamie Ritchie singled on a sun-lost popup to score Reed for a 1-0 lead.
Antonio Nunez led off the bottom of the 3rd with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jake Marisnick, extending the Grizzlies' advantage to 2-0.
Omaha briefly tied the game in the top of the 5th. Ramon Torres singled, and Donnie DeWees clubbed a home run.
The Grizzlies regained the lead in the bottom of the 5th, as Jamie Ritchie doubled, went to 3rd on a single by Myles Straw, and scored on a single by Antonio Nunez, making it 3-2 Fresno.
Jake Kalish turned in another solid start for the Chasers, pitching 6 innings and scattering 3 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 8 and walked none.
In the top of the 7th, Cam Gallagher singled, Elier Hernandez doubled, and Donnie DeWees walked to load the bases. Humberto Arteaga then tied the game by hitting into a fielder's choice, making it 3-3.
Trent Thornton was lifted after tossing 7 frames for Frseno; he was charged with 3 runs, 6 hits, and 1 walk, with 7 strikeouts.
Josh Staumont pitched two scoreless innings in relief to keep the game tied, and Jake Newberry sent the game to extra innings with a scoreless 9th.
In the top of the 10th, Nicky Lopez tripled home the automatic runner, giving Omaha a 4-3 lead. But Fresno answered in the bottom of the inning on a 2-out RBI single by Derek Fisher, knotting the game at 4.
Ramon Torres put Omaha back in front with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th, after a wild pitch had sent Terrance Gore to 3rd.
Michael Mariot (S, 2) stranded two runners in the bottom of the 11th, nailing down his 2nd save with Omaha, and giving the Chasers 5 wins in their last 6 games.
The Storm Chasers (49-57) will conclude the series in Fresno tomorrow night at 9:05 Central. RHP Trevor Oaks (7-4, 2.05) will face Fresno's RHP Josh James (4-4, 3.18).
