Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Oklahoma City - Kyle Farmer and Henry Ramos each brought home a run for the Oklahoma City Dodgers in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the Dodgers to a 2-0 win against the El Paso Chihuahuas in the series finale between the teams Monday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The two teams remained in a scoreless tie heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, as they combined for 11 hits and 25 total strikeouts on the night.

With the win, the Dodgers avoided a series sweep as they picked up their sixth shutout win of the season and second shutout victory of the ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! homestand.

Both starting pitchers battled early, as Oklahoma City's Drew Hutchison tossed 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk while recording eight strikeouts.

The outing marked his fourth straight scoreless start (23.0 IP) and his sixth scoreless outing in seven total starts with the Dodgers.

Meanwhile, El Paso starting pitcher Colin Rea tossed 5.0 scoreless frames, allowing two hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts.

Both exited the game in a scoreless tie and did not factor into the decision.

The Dodgers (58-47) had an opportunity to take an early lead Monday as they loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth inning. Farmer singled and Andrew Toles followed with a double before Ramos drew a walk to load the bases. Jake Peter then struck out to end the inning and keep the game in a scoreless tie.

The Dodgers offense broke through in the eighth inning.

Edwin RÃ-os led off the bottom of the frame with a double for Oklahoma City and advanced to third base on a single by Donovan Solano. Farmer then lined a RBI double into left field with none out to bring home RÃ-os for a 1-0 Oklahoma City lead. The double was Farmer's 11 in the month of July.

Andrew Toles followed with a walk to load the bases for Ramos, who hit into a fielder's choice, allowing another run to score for a 2-0 Dodgers lead.

With two outs in the ninth inning, El Paso (58-49) put the tying runs on base with back-to-back singles by Francisco Mejia and Franmil Reyes. Brett Nicholas, representing the potential winning run, then grounded out to end the game.

Reliever Pat Venditte (4-2) was credited with the win for the Dodgers, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings before Brian Schlitter closed out the game for his 15th save of the season - second-most in the PCL this season.

Erik Johnson (0-2) gave up the eventual winning runs in the eighth inning and was charged with the loss for the Chihuahuas.

The Dodgers tied their season-high for a nine-inning game with 13 strikeouts Monday, hitting the mark for the second time in four games against El Paso.

The Dodgers were also held to two runs or less for the fourth straight game.

After a league-wide day off Tuesday, the Dodgers open a seven-game West Coast road trip with a three-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers at 9:05 p.m. CT Wednesday at Cheney Stadium.
