Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Nikolay Goldobin and Daniil Tarasov each collected a goal and an assist to lift the Worcester Sharks to their seventh straight win with a 4-2 decision over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday on Mohegan Sun at Casey Plaza. Tom Kuhnhackl picked up two assists in the loss for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Making his pro debut with Worcester, Goldobin gave his team the 1-0 edge just 11.6 seconds before the intermission as he picked up a loose puck on the left side of the net and stuffed a wraparound shot inside the near post.

Skating on the man-advantage in the second period, the Penguins would tie the score at one at 11:15 when Danny Syvret floated a wrist shot from the point that found its way past screened Sharks goaltender Aaron Dell.

Less than three minutes later, the Sharks pulled ahead again on a clean faceoff win by Travis Oleksuk and quick snapshot by Willie Coetzee that was partially stopped by goalie Jeff Zatkoff, but still had enough momentum to slip under the arm of the Penguins goalie and roll across the goal line.

Worcester stretched its lead to two 5:33 into the third period as Ryan Carpenter trailed late into Wilkes-Barre/Scranton zone, took a pass in the slot from Daniel Ciampini for a wrister that beat Zatkoff to the glove side.

Midway through the same period, Tarasov touched a Micheal Haley feed just inside right iron for a power play goal that made the score 4-1 for Worcester.

Dominik Uher pulled the Penguins within two with 8:25 left in the match, poking a loose puck in the crease through the pads of Dell for his third goal in his last three games. Dell kept Wilkes-Barre/Scranton off the board the rest of the way, finishing 27 saves to record his sixth win in a row.

Zatkoff took the loss for the Penguins with 32 saves on 36 shots.

The Penguins wrap up their three-game homestand on Saturday, Apr. 4 as they take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 7:05 p.m.

Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
