Springfield, Mass. - The Albany Devils slipped past the Springfield Falcons, 1-0, in a shootout tonight at the MassMutual Center.

The is the second consecutive time the Falcons and Devils have gone into a shootout and the first shootout loss for the Falcons this season. The team now sits at 35-27-8-1 with 79 points. Springfield completes the eight-game season series with Albany with a 4-1-2-1 record.

Falcons goaltender Scott Munroe earned his second shutout this season, turning aside all 26 shots on goal. Munroe allowed one goal in three shootout attempts. Devils goaltender Scott Wedgewood blanked the Falcons, stopping all 32 shots and three shootout attempts. Springfield was unable to find the back of the net during two power play opportunities. The penalty kill unit held Albany scoreless for all three man-advantages.

After 65 scoreless minutes, the teams went to a shootout to determine a victor. Matt Lorito beat Munroe in the third round with a quick backhander over his shoulder to take the 1-0 win for the Devils.

The Springfield Falcons will host the Portland Pirates at the MassMutual Center on Saturday, April 4 at 7 p.m. for the last home game of the regular season.
