Hershey Bears News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - Ryan Faragher stopped all 24 shots he faced for his first professional shutout, and the Norfolk Admirals skated past the Hershey Bears by a count of 4-0 on Friday night in the front end of the Bears' final trip to Norfolk Scope.

The hosts would get on the board first with a late goal in the opening period. Mad Friberg completed a tic-tac-toe passing play with Josh Manson and Mike Sgarbossa by tapping the puck in from the top of the crease past Philipp Grubauer at 19:02.

The Admirals would control the second period as well, adding two more to take a comfortable 3-0 lead at the intermission. On Norfolk's first power play chance of the night, Charles Sarault parked at the net front and tipped a shot from Brandon Montour through Grubauer at 3:08.

Later in the period, after a strong cycle in the left corner, Matt Bailey walked out to the top of the right circle and sent a soft wrist shot into the net inside the right post at 15:59.

The Bears started with a jump in the third period, and got their best scoring chance when Tim Kennedy picked off a pass in the high slot, skated in and blasted a shot off of the crossbar. Video replay would be consulted to confirm no goal.

The Admirals later rounded out the scoring when Antoine Laganiere finished off a three-on-one rush with his 10th goal of the season at 9:24.

Faragher won for the second time this season and improved to 2-7-0. Grubauer stopped 31 of 35 shots, but fell to 26-16-5.

With the loss, the Bears record now stands at 42-20-5-3 (92 points). A Wilkes-Barre/Scranton loss to Worcester reduced Hershey's magic number to claim the East Division crown to eight points.
