
Sharks look to bounce back after rough week in Atlantic

Rewind the Tape:
12.26.08 - Worcester 2 - Providence 3 - Shootout- DCU Center
The Sharks out shot the Bruins 48-21 but came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 score in the shootout. Derek Joslin and Lukas Kaspar recorded tallies and Thomas Greiss made 18 saves in net for Worcester. Tuukka Rask made 46 saves and was 4/5 in the shootout to lead the Bruins to the victory.
12.28.08 - Worcester 1 - Portland 7 - Cumberland County Civic Center
Andrew Desjardins scored the only goal for Worcester as the shorthanded Pirates buried the Sharks 7-1 in Portland on Sunday. The Pirates had six different goal scorers and eight different players with at least two points. Thomas Greiss and Taylor Dakers allowed seven goals on 23 shots.
Sharks in the Atlantic...
The Sharks (16-15-0-1) swim in 5th place in the Atlantic Division with 33 points, seven points behind the first place Providence Bruins and just one point behind the 4th place Manchester Monarchs. Just 11 points separate all seven teams in a very tight Atlantic Division.

*Cory Larose (3-4-7) is currently riding a five game point streak.
*Worcester leads the AHL with shots per game (35.91) and first in shots against per game (24.94)
*The Sharks have 37 fighting major penalties this season through 32 games this season. 11 different players have dropped the gloves already this season (Frazer McLaren (11), Westgarth (9), Moore (3), Staubitz (5), Demers (2), Cavanagh, McGinn (2), Dan DaSilva, Andrew Desjardins, Kyle McLaren, Brendan Buckley.
*Derek Joslin is 2nd in the AHL among defensemen with 98 shots on goal and is 6th among d-men in scoring with 20 points (7-13-20).
*Frazer McLaren is second among AHL rookies with 11 fighting major penalties.
*Steven Zalewski ranks 9th in the AHL among rookies in points (7-13-20) and 2nd among rookies with 94 shots on goal.
*Claude Lemieux has five points (2-4-6) in 14 games along with 12 penalty minutes and is +3 since his return to professional hockey with the Sharks on 11.28.08.

Worcester to host the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications!
The Sharks and the city of Worcester will host the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications on January 25th and 26th at the DCU Center. Tickets are on sale to the general public now. The 2009 event in Worcester will mark the fourth time since it was revived in 1995 that the AHL All-Star Classic will take place in New England. The AHL All-Star Classic was last held in Massachusetts in 1959 at the Eastern States Coliseum in West Springfield.
