Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-Hartland Arrowhead goaltender Nick Kohn stopped all 28 shots that he faced and was named the game's number one star as Arrowhead topped University School of Milwaukee 7-0 in the Championship game of the RBC Wealth Management High School Hockey Showdown Monday afternoon at the Bradley Center.

This was the second year in a row that Arrowhead has captured the tournament title.

Arrowhead took at a 1-0 when Brian Berger notched his 14th goal of the season at the 5:20 mark of the first, for the opening stanza's lone tally. Donovan Blackney and Chris Palmer assisted on the goal. The Warhawks outshot USM 7-6 in the first period.

Hartland went up 2-0 when David Clark fired a wrist shot from the left circle that beat University School netminder Dan Smyzcek 50 seconds into the period and put Arrowhead up 2-0. Palmer and Blackney assisted on this goal as well.

Berger picked up his second tally of the game at the 15:10 mark of the second period after he beat the USM defense around the corner and slide a backhand by Smyzcek.

University School had a number of good opportunities in the second, including a pair of power-plays, but they couldn't solve Arrowhead netminder Nick Kohn, who turned aside 13 shots in the frame.

The Warhawks broke the game open with a pair of third period goals by Brendan Garvey and one each by Connor McBride and Clark to come away with the win.

Earlier in the day, Marquette High topped Brookfield 3-2 in the tournament's consolation game. Brookfield got on the board first when senior defenseman Brent Reid scored at the 4:13 mark of the opening period. Marquette tied the game at the 11:18 mark when Sean Gebhard notched a power-play goal and then just over a minute later Hilltopper forward Tim Sweeney gave his team the lead when he scored at the 12:27 mark.

Sweeney would strike again to give Marquette a 3-1 lead with another power-play tally at 13:57 of the second on the period's lone goal.

Brookfield would pull within one at the 5:34 mark of the third when Charles Mollenkamp fed Luke Shapiro for a power-play goal. The Stars would pull goaltender Doug Gorand with 55 seconds to play in favor of an extra attacker, but they could not come up with the equalizer and Marquette came away with the 3-2 win.
