Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
PORTLAND, ME - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (14-9) and Portland Sea Dogs (8-16) split a doubleheader at Hadlock Field Friday evening. Game 1 was delayed by 2 hours and 3 minutes due to inclement weather.
Game One - Rumble Ponies 12, Sea Dogs 5
The Rumble Ponies used a seven-run seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie and go on to a 12-5 victory, their 4th straight win. Barrett Barnes led the way finishing 3-4, with five RBI. It's the second straight game in which a Rumble Ponies player has driven in 5 runs, after Kevin Kaczmarski accomplished the feat in Thursday's 10-1 win. It's also the second seven-run inning for Binghamton in the last 3 games. On Wednesday, The Ponies scored seven runs in the fifth inning vs. Akron in an 8-0 win. Braxton Lee also finished 3-4, with two RBI. It's the third straight game in which the Ponies scored at least eight runs. Harol Gonzalez allowed five runs on nine hits over five frames in the no-decision, with PJ Conley picking up the win in relief. Portland reliever Andrew Schwaab, who entered the game with a 0.79 ERA, takes the loss as he was charged with all seven runs in the 7th.
Game Two - Sea Dogs 5, Rumble Ponies 3
The Rumble Ponies fell behind 5-0 after 2 innings and clawed their way back with runs in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th, before falling 5-3 to the Sea Dogs to split the doubleheader. Binghamton had the tying runs on base in the seventh, before Kevin Kaczmarski flew out to right to end the game. It snaps Binghamton's four-game winning streak and ends Portland's four-game skid. Ryder Ryan made the spot start allowing five runs over an inning and a third, suffering his first loss of the year.
