Harrisburg Senators News Release

Reading, PA - The Harrisburg Senators battled back from an early deficit to tie the game, but took a 5-3 loss Wednesday night on the road against the Reading Phillies. The Phillies plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th to pick up the win.

The Phillies struck in the bottom of the 4th against Harrisburg RHP Adrian Alaniz. Brad Harman and Lou Marson stroked back-to-back singles to start the inning and Jeremy Slayden followed with an RBI double. Mike Eylward clubbed a two-run double to right-center to give the Phillies a 3-0 lead.

It stayed that way until the 7th inning as former Senator RHP Kip Bouknight kept Harrisburg scoreless. In the 7th, the bats got going. Andrew LeFave walked and Seth Bynum drilled an RBI double to right-center to cut it to 3-1. Devin Ivany came off the bench to pinch hit and clubbed a two-run homer to left to tie the game at 3-3.

Reading came right back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th. Michael Spidale led off with a single. Jason Donald popped up a bunt, but the Senators couldn't make a catch and Donald reached on a hit. Harman bunted the runners up and an intentional walk loaded the bases. Slayden lifted a sacrifice fly to right to make it 4-3 and Eylward grounded an RBI single to left to put the Phillies up, 5-3.

The Senators had a chance to take the lead in the 9th with the bases loaded and two out. But on a popup in foul territory, Eylward, the first baseman, leaned into the seats to make the catch and end the game.

RHP Joe Bisenius picked up the win in relief for Reading to even his record at 2-2. RHP Beltran Perez took the loss to dip to 3-3.

The Senators fell to 43-33. Reading upped its record to 30-46.

The four-game series finishes Thursday at 7:05 PM in Reading. LHP Mike Hinckley (3-2, 5.04 ERA) takes on Phillies LHP Fabio Castro (4-0, 4.91 ERA).
