ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the ‘Wolves look to snap a two-game slide as they take the field in the third game of a four-game set against the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at Waterfront Park. Trenton has taken the first two games of the series (4-3 and 6-2) and they have won the season series over the ‘Wolves with two games remaining. The road has not been kind to the ‘Wolves over the past week. Erie is in the midst of their longest road trip of the season (10 games) and the club is 2-6 over the first eight games...Erie is 4-6 in the last 10 games. The club is 14.5 games behind the first place Akron Aeros...Trenton is the top team in the Northern Division, three games ahead of second place Portland...Righty Ben Fritz takes the mound for the ‘Wolves making his 11th start of the season and his first against the Thunder. Fritz is 1-2 with a no-decision in four starts since coming off the disabled list on June 6. In his last outing against Harrisburg, Frtiz went seven-plus innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts. He left the game with a 6-3 lead, but the bullpen could not hold on as Erie fell 9-6...Righty Eric Hacker takes the mound for the Thunder, making his sixth start of the season and his first against the SeaWolves. Hacker took a loss in his last start against Binghamton. In the game, he went five innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts. Hacker was 2-2 with a 1.87 ERA in nine starts for Class-A Tampa before joining Trenton.

- Ryan Roberson is batting .378 (14x37) in 10 games since returning from Triple-A Toledo. Roberson's 17-game hitting streak is the longest for an Erie hitter in 2008. The streak is also tied for longest in the EL this season. New Britain's Luke Hughes also hit safely in 17 straight April 21-May 15.

- SeaWolves RHP Anthony Tomey has been unconditionally released. Tomey is replaced by RHP Matt Rusch from Triple-A Toledo. Rusch began the season with Erie before a promotion to Toledo on April 12. In 20 appearances for the Mud Hens, Rusch was 2-0 with a 4.71 ERA.
