March 17, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

Filip Chlapik registered three points as the Belleville Senators beat the Utica Comets 4-3 at the Yardmen Arena on Tribute to Wrestling night.

The Senators had goals from Filip Chlapik (2), Daniel Ciampini and Jack Rodewald while Danny Taylor stopped 36 shots. Richard Bachman made 26 saves for Utica, who got goals from Andrew Cherniwchan (2) and Cam Darcy.

Leading 3-2 heading into the third period, Taylor stole the show in the final 20 minutes with numerous outstanding saves including a left pad stop on Tony Cameranesi, a double-save on Vincent Arseneau and a spectacular glove save from the seat of his pants to rob Darcy and keep the Sens ahead 3-2.

Chlapik would bag his second of the game with 59.9 seconds left on an empty-net and despite Cherniwchan scoring on a spinning backhand with 15.7 seconds left, the Sens took home the two points.

Belleville struck twice early to push ahead 2-0 on their North Division rivals. Chlapik grabbed his ninth of the season just 2:38 into the game as he beat Bachman on a breakaway after collecting an errant puck after Ciampini forced a turnover.

It was 2-0 6:19 later through Ciampini who was the beneficiary of incredible work by Chlapik who had skated around the Comets net, came out in front before deking around a defender before finding Ciampini who spun and beat Bachman low for his sixth of the season.

Cherniwchan got Utica on the board with 2:18 left as he found a loose puck which he promptly fired past Taylor for his fifth of the season and the visitors tied the game at 2-2 just 1:42 into the second period on Darcy's sixth of the season on the power play.

After Jordan Murray rung the crossbar on a breakaway, Belleville would take a 3-2 lead into the third on Rodewald's 12th of the season as he took a fantastic Max Lajoie stretch pass before firing a wrister past Bachman with 1:05 left in the second.

Chlapik also hit a milestone in the game as he played in his 50th career AHL contest while also becoming the season leader in points for Belleville.

Belleville is back in action Friday when they host the Toronto Marlies for the final time this season. Tickets are available.
