
Comets Can't Overcome Early Deficit Against Belleville

Utica, N.Y. - The Utica Comets fell to the Belleville Senators by a score of 4-3 Saturday night at the Yardmen Arena.
Filip Chlapik gave the Senators a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game, squeaking a shot past Richard Bachman. Daniel Ciampini had the assist. Ciampini doubled the lead six minutes later. Chlapik and Patrick Sieloff collected the assists. Andrew Cherniwchan cut the lead to 2-1 with 2:08 remaining in the opening frame, firing a loose puck past Senators goalie Danny Taylor. Griffen Molino and Guillaume Brisebois picked up the assists.
Cam Darcy tied things up at two less than two minutes into the second period with a power play goal. Patrick Wiercioch and Dylan Blujus tallied the assists. Jack Rodewald regained Belleville's lead with 1:05 to go in the middle frame. Maxime Lajoie and Sam Reinhart were credited with the assists.
Chlapik scored an empty netter with a minute to go. Colin White and Danny Taylor had the assists. Cherniwchan would respond 45 seconds later to bring the Comets back to within one. Jaime Sifers and Wacey Hamilton registered the assists.
Bachman finished with 26 saves and his record falls to 10-12-4. Taylor stopped 36 shots. His record improves to 10-15-13. The Comets power play went 1-5, while the penalty kill did not allow a goal in three attempts.
The Comets are back at it tomorrow afternoon against the Toronto Marlies. Puck drop at Ricoh Coliseum is at 4 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL Live.
