Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs. Comets, March 17
March 17, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
The Belleville Senators will remain home for the second game in as many nights as they welcome the Utica Comets to town for just the second time this season.
Belleville (23-36-2-3) is coming off of a narrow 3-1 loss to Toronto Friday night and currently sit 19 points adrift of Utica for a playoff spot in the North Division.
The Comets (30-22-6-4) sit fourth in the North and are 14 points ahead of Laval for a playoff spot but have won just two of its past 10 contests.
Saturday's game is Tribute to Wrestling night featuring WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley.
Roster notes
No updates on the roster front for the Senators who saw Ryan Scarfo make his Sens, and professional, debut Friday against Toronto.
The Sens also received a boost as Christian Jaros returned after a 20-game layoff dating back to Jan. 20 due to a foot injury.
With Marcus Hogberg starting against the Marlies last night, expect Danny Taylor to be between the pipes for the Sens.
Max McCormick and Jim O'Brien are still with Ottawa while Kyle Flanagan and Francis Perron are out for Belleville.
Previous history
The Sens are 1-3 against the Comets this season but did win the last match-up 1-0 on March 2 behind a Danny Taylor shutout. Utica has outscored Belleville 15-9 in the four games so far this season.
Who to watch
Sens defenceman Ville Pokka continues to fit in well with the Sens as he sees big minutes every night on the Belleville blue line. The offensive minded Finn has also chipped in four assists in his 12 games with the Senators.
Cam Darcy has been on a hot streak for the Comets over the past 10 games as he's put up seven points, including three goals. Darcy has five goals and 17 assists for 22 points in 42 games this season, all of which are a career high.
Where to watch
Saturday's game starts at 7pm and can be seen live on www.theahl.com through their AHL Live application (subscription required) or at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.
The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call.
