Heat Fall Just Short in Playoff-Like Game to Tucson 2-1
March 17, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release
Stockton, Calif. - A tight, playoff like atmosphere made for a compelling contest between Stockton and Tucson but a late goal by Conor Garland would be the difference maker as the Heat would fall 2-1 to the Roadrunners to end the season series. While the Roadrunners got on the board first, the Heat put a lot of pressure on Tucson, playing a rough and tumble brand of hockey. In the middle frame, Stockton would draw even thanks to a terrific play set up by Mike McMurtry in the offensive zone, which eventually landed in the hands of Spencer Foo and back behind the Tucson net to tie the game 1-1 and end a lengthy stretch that kept the team off the scoresheet. The Heat thought they took their first lead in the third but the goal was waved off immediately on the ice and was confirmed through video review. Garland would make his mark late in the game with under four minutes to go, which proved to be the go-ahead marker in the contest. The Heat hit the road for a pair of games in Manitoba, Canada to take on the Manitoba Moose on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. PST and again on Saturday also at 5:00 p.m. PST. Fans can catch all the action on AHL Live for $7.99 per game. Stockton returns to Stockton Arena on Wednesday, March 28 for another Wing It Wednesday, where fans can purchase $.50 wings and $4 bottomless popcorn, along with purchase tickets to both remaining Wednesday games starting at $5.
