SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch opened scoring in the first period and kept their foot on the gas to crush the Laval Rocket, 5-2, tonight at the War Memorial Arena.
Mat Bodie and Gabriel Dumont recorded three-point games with a goal and two assists, while Mathieu Joseph recorded three helpers. Olivier Archambault paced the team in goals with two to help advance the Crunch to 39-19-3-4 on the season. Syracuse finishes the eight-game season series against Laval at 4-2-1-1.

Syracuse tallied a power-play goal in their third consecutive game going 1-for-8 on the man-advantage. They were 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
Syracuse lit the lamp late in the first period and built a 2-0 lead in just 27 seconds. At the 18:04 mark, Kevin Lynch tipped Ben Thomas's shot from the high slot for his 11th of the season. Bodie earned the secondary assist. Seconds later, Archambault got a stick on Dumont's shot from the blue line to build a three-game goal-scoring streak. Mathieu Joseph picked up a point for the helper.
The Rocket stole one back on the power play two minutes into the middle frame. Chris Terry cut down the right wing and threw a centering feed for Niki Petti to redirect as he crashed the net.
Syracuse regained their two-goal lead during 4-on-4 play eight minutes into the second stanza. Bodie sent home a slap shot from between the circles with the help of Dumont and Joseph.
The Crunch made it 4-1 just 1:24 into the third period with a 5-on-3 advantage. Matthew Peca sent the puck up to Archambault at the point. He walked it into the left circle and wristed his second of the game. Joseph made it a three-point night with an assist.
At the 12:06 mark Petti scored his second of the game. He drove through the zone and backhanded a shot past Ingram. Yannick Veilleux and Simon Bourque earned the assists.
Dumont added an empty netter with the help of Bodie and Daniel Walcott late in the game to secure a 5-2 victory over the Rocket.
The Crunch continue a six-game homestand on Friday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7 p.m.
