Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Friday night at Metro Bank Park, the Senators came out blazing but couldn't hold the lead in a 9-5 loss to the Akron Aeros. Harrisburg scored five runs in the first inning but didn't score again in the game. Akron countered with seven runs in the third, then tacked on single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. It was another tough night on the mound for the Sens as they allowed just six hits, but combined to walk eight Akron Aeros.

Archie Gilbert capped off a five-run first inning with a three-run home run giving the Sens a 5-0 lead. That was about all the offense for the Senators. Steve Lombardozzi did have three hits for the Sens in the game.

Trailing 5-0, Akron parlayed a lead-off walk in the third inning into a seven-run inning. Capping the outburst was a grand slam off the bat of Matt McBride, his 10th home run on the season.

Tanner Roark started for the Senators and took the loss, going the first 2.2 innings and allowing seven runs. Carlos Martinez, Pat Lehman, and Pat McCoy finished up the game, pitching the final 6.1 innings and allowing just two runs.

Game two of the series is Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with LH Oliver Perez on the mound for the Sens and LH T.J. McFarland for the Aeros. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
