Josh Schmidt Promoted to Triple A

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce that RHP Josh Schmidt has been promoted to Triple A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre. The transaction leaves the Trenton 24-man active roster at two below its maximum.

Schmidt, a 15th round selection of the Yankees in 2005 out of the University of the Pacific, has appeared in 15 games for Trenton this year, compiling a 2-2 record with a 1.59 ERA. The righty began the year in Triple A where he went 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA in five games.

The Thunder will return home to Waterfront Park Friday to kick-start a six-game homestand. Game one of a three-game series with the Binghamton Mets begins at 7:05 PM. Trenton will turn to RHP Craig Heyer (5-3, 2.78), while the B-Mets will counter with RHP Bradley Holt (2-4, 3.67). Tune-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR-FM and on trentonthunder.com. The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Jay Burnham and Hank Fuerst begins at 6:45 PM.

The first 1,500 fans to Friday's game at Waterfront Park will receive Thunder Baseball Card Sets presented by Verizon Wireless.
