
Sellout Crowd Sees Stars Sneak Past Admirals 2-1 In A Shootout

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (24-15-3-2, 53 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (24-13-2-6, 56 points) 2-1 in front of a sold out crowd of 6,863 fans at Cedar Park Center on Saturday night. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (15-10-2) stopped 28 of 29 shots in regulation, as well as four of five in the shootout to preserve the win. Milwaukee goalie Jeremy Smith (7-4-1) made 25 saves in regulation, as well as stopping three of five in the shootout loss. Right wing Greg Rallo scored the team's lone regulation goal, as the Stars improved to 12-7-3-1 at home. Defenseman Roman Josi notched the only goal for the Admirals early in the third period to force overtime. Texas faces the San Antonio Rampage at 7:30 PM on Monday.
After a scoreless first period, Texas right wing Greg Rallo scored the first goal of the night 8:44 into the second period. Right wing Sean Backman and defenseman Severin Blindenbacher each tallied an assist on the play as Texas took a 1-0 lead through 40 minutes of play.
Milwaukee tied the game 20 seconds into the third period with a power-play goal by defenseman Roman Josi. Defenseman Jonathon Blum and center Linus Klasen set up the game-tying goal for a 1-1 score to force overtime.
Following a scoreless overtime, both teams skated to a shootout. Colton Sceviour and Ray Sawada each scored in the shootout for Texas. Milwaukee's Linus Klasen had the lone shootout goal for the Admirals.
The Stars will host the San Antonio Rampage this Monday at 7:30 PM. Every Monday, fans may bring an H-E-B food item to receive $5 off their ticket price. Every Monday game is also a 3-2-1 night with $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas and $1 hot dogs. Texas travels to Oklahoma City to take on the Barons this Friday, January 28th at 6:05 PM. The Stars host the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday, January 29th at 7:00 PM. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Texas Stars player card set. Also, fans may purchase the State Farm Family Four Pack for the game, which includes four hot dogs, four sodas and four tickets for $44.
