Panthers Recall Goaltender Jacob Markstrom

(Rochester, NY)... Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled G Jacob Markstrom from the Rochester Americans.

Markstrom, 20, earns his first recall of the season to the Panthers, after appearing in three games with Florida during the 2010 preseason. The Gavle, Sweden, native has played in 33 games for Rochester this season, posting a 13-19-1 mark with a 3.14 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Markstrom made 35 of 36 saves in his last start to help Rochester defeat Syracuse 2-1 on Friday, Jan. 21.

Markstrom was selected by the Panthers with their first choice (2nd round, 31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Florida (21-20-5) opens a six-game road trip this afternoon when they visit the New Jersey Devils. The game will not be televised locally, but can be heard on 560 WQAM at 3 p.m.
